The Orange Award for New Writers

The Orange Broadband Award for New Writers is open to all first works of fiction written by women of any age or nationality and published in the UK between 1 April of the year before the prize is awarded and 31 March of the year in which the prize is awarded.

Short story collections and novellas are also eligible.

Although it will be possible for the same writer to win both the Orange Prize for Fiction and the Orange Award for New Writers in any given year, the emphasis of the Award is on potential and emerging talent.

As in the Orange Prize for Fiction, the judges for this award will be looking for works of excellence, originality and accessibility, as well as promise.
